ENDING THE STIGMA OF SUICIDE LOSS THROUGH COMEDY

In april of 2017…

My life was turned up side down when my loving father unexpectedly took his life.

I was lost and confused, a victim of unfathomable loss & I knew that my life would never be the same. After experimenting with unhealthy “coping mechanisms,” I decided to get help. I joined a Suicide Loss Survivor Group and my grieving pathway completely elevated. I was so inspired by the courage of my fellow survivors who shared their stories that I knew that this was where the real healing would begin.

Today,  I am dedicated to becoming the face & voice of suicide loss awareness in entertainment. As the number of suicides increase every year, and exponentially in the since the lockdowns due to Covid-19, the number of suicide loss victims increase are sky rocketing at an alarming rate. So in 2020, I created a community outreach venture and a docu-series called “Mourning Glory”, where we provide mental health care & community for suicide loss survivors through camaraderie, conversations & compassion.

I am also the creator of a semi-autobiographical half hour tragicomedy, called “VENICE BEACH SCUMBAGS”. The series highlights the specific struggles that one must endure when someone they love dies by suicide. This way we are not glorifying suicide or using it as entertaining shock value but instead increasing awareness & opening lines of communication to end the stigma associated with suicide loss survivorship.
